Kit to aid Victoria Bushfire Appeal

Spirit of Summer is a charity collab benefiting the Victorian bushfire Appeal. Not only has this effected Australians, but human beings the world over. 29 Australian and international designers have banded together to help support many Australians, animals and communities decimated by one Australia's worse national disasters.

What happened? On Saturday, Feb 7, the temperature in Melbourne was 33'c by 9am. By noon it was 40'c and by 2.50 pm soared to 47.9'c (a state record).Thousands of people were also about to start running from the inferno that would become one of Australia's worst peacetime disasters. Trees ignited in the blink of an eye. By the time people heard the roar, it was too late to flee ahead of the flames.Unfortunatly no one or thing could have stopped this inferno that wiped out communities, bushland, and lives within minutes. Many towns now cease to exist!.After watching interviews with survivors, many say that they cant put into words what they went through, saw or felt on that day. Here are just a few pictures(courtesy of google,The age,sbs &abc Aust.) of this horrible disaster:

Victorian bushfire appeal

A group of Australian digi designers (and a few others from overseas who wanted to help out) have banded together to do a mega-kit to help raise funds for the Victorian Bushfire Appeal.

This collab kit is almost finished - we worked on it over the weekend - and it is being quality checked right now. As soon as previews are finished and the ads done, you will hear about it...

This is one totally awesome and amazing kit. You will just want it so badly!!!!

I'll keep you posted.

Blog freebie

Hey, check out the blog at Bouquet Of Pixels...my blog freebie for February is up and has just a few days left for downloading...

Don't say I didn't tell ya!

Floods at one end, fires at the other

It's been said before - "Australia is a land of contrasts". This couldn't be truer than right at the present time.

We have floods in the north of Australia, stretching down into the desert basin around Birdsville. Many many people have been affected and one large town has been isolated for days and days. Only now are emergency vehicles with supplies being allowed in on the roads.

But far, far worse is the situation in the south, in Victoria, where massive bushfires have burned for days, wiping whole towns off the face of the map. Aerial views bring to mind what a war zone looks like that has been bombed. It is just total destruction and devastation.

The loss of homes, is nothing really, compared with the tragic loss of life. People who just couldn't race the fire and were consumed by it. Already the count is nearing 200 and that is expected to rise as embers cool and the authorities can go in and find bodies. Several people are listed as missing. It is so terribly heartbreaking. At least in a flood you don't generally lose everything you have, but in a fire, it is different story. People have lost not only all their material possessions, but they have lost loved ones as well. It is an unbelievable tragedy, the like of which Australia has not seen before. It is a national disaster...and still the fires burn...and that's just in one state. Many other bushfires burn in New South Wales as well.

Hopefully, the person or persons who deliberately lit some of these fires will be caught and brought to justice.

It is so, so sad.

Here's a challenge for you

I run the Scripture Verse Challenge over at Life-Scrappers.com and I've put up the verse for the February challenge. I've made word art for this verse and if you'd like to take part in this challenge you can find the link to download the free word art in the Challenges section of the Life-Scrappers forum.

Here's the link -
http://life-scrappers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=105

You'll need to register in the forum and gallery if you wish to take part.

(The word art for the January challenge is still up so you can grab that too, but be quick, it's not going to be available for much longer. We won't mind if you post a late entry for this challenge either.)

Come on over and join in the fun.

Lots of rain...and frogs

Yep, the frogs are having a great time as we experience our 'Big Wet' here in the tropics. I decided to create a new kit and I've called it "Froggy Pond". I did six photo extractions to include in this kit plus there are 27 other beautiful embellishments. There are also 20 individual background papers with the pond theme. This time I'm offering the papers and elements as separate packs - or the entire kit as a whole which costs a little less.

These are in stores now at:
